Filmmaker and Photographer Mark Hejnar will be speaking at AU about his new book, “Secret Siam: Hidden Art & Iconography of Thailand.”

ABOUT
Hejnar spent 4 years in Thailand, during which he took thousands of photos while exploring the far reaches of the kingdom. He focused on Thailand’s indigenous art, icons, and architecture, hidden in plain sight past tourist attractions.

“From religious folk-paintings to infernal torture sculptures, from half-buried gods in temple cave complexes to the spectral dolls who beckon from derelict spirit houses, Hejnar has captured a revelatory world of the marvelous and the monstrous, showing how Thailand’s religions, myths and art are inextricably bound together.” –http://www.amazon.com/Secret-Siam-Hidden-Iconography-Thailand/dp/1840683309

Hejnar will speak about his experience and there will be a Q&A portion at the end of the talk. Physical copies of his book will be available for sale at the event.
